THE CREDIT UNION SETTLES ANOTHER LAWSUIT

To Whom It May Concern:

Priority One Credit Union did not write any material regarding Ms. Nylonda Sharnese, defamatory or otherwise.

It did not authorize anyone within the credit union to write or disclose any material concerning Ms. Sharnese, defamatory or otherwise. Further, it did not disclose any information concerning any account or loan Ms. Sharnese may have had with it, nor did it allege that Ms. Sharnese "ran with her car."

Quite simply, the credit union has no firsthand knowledge of Ms. Sharnese’s activities with her car, and the credit union does not condone anyone writing any information about any of its members or former members on any blog or other public forum.

The President's denial of any involvement in the publication of the member's account and personal information on the Internet, including this blog, is a moot point. President Wiggington is ultimately responsible for abuses knowingly committed by him and of abuses committed by his staff whether or not he is aware of those abuses.

President Wiggington not only requested to be a follower of this blog, but he is avid reader of our posts, often commenting about these while at work. As one of our readers, the President was well aware of the comments posted about the member long before she contacted the credit union. Despite knowing that account and confidential information had been published on the Internet, the President chose not to stop his credit union's violation of the Privacy Act.

The member first contacted Board Chair, Diedra Harris-Brooks, and informed her of the violation. Mrs. Harris-Brooks chose not to involve herself in the investigation and deferred the issue to President Wiggington who in turn, delegated the investigation to Vice President of Operations, Yvonne Boutte. Mrs. Bouttee contacted the member and spewed out orders that she was never to call the Board Chair again. When the member tried to respond, Mrs. Boutte continued, impeding the member from responding, so the member hung-up and filed a lawsuit.

The information published about the member's account and person could only have been divulged by an officer of the credit union. Accounts deferred for legal measures intended to recuperate delinquent payments, are always handled by the officers of the Credit Resolutions Department and the President. In this case, the three likely candidates who may have divulged the information, are:

Vice President of Operations, Yvonne Boutte

Credit Collection Supervisor, Alex Suarez; and/or

President Charles R. Wiggington, Sr.

The member's lawsuit was filed quickly so that the credit union could avoid what would have been a costly and embarrassing lawsuit and the possibly payment of fines for violating the Privacy Act.
